Graduate, Madrasah School, Bosnia Herzegovina; 1978, graduate, Azhar University, Egypt; 1987, PhD, University of Chicago. 1981, Imam, Islamic Cultural Centre; 1985, Lecturer, American Islamic College; 1986, Grand Imam, Islamic Centre, Zagreb; 1987, Lecturer, Faculty of Islamic Theology, Sarajevo; 1988, Editor, Islamic Symposium, Islamic Centre, Zagreb; 1991-92, Associate Professor and Professor, International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization; 1992, Official Representative, Bosnia-Herzegovina government; Raisu-l-ulama, Islamic Community, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Grand Mufti of Bosnia (1993-2012). Member of local and international scientific organizations and societies. Author. Co-Recipient, UNESCO Felix Houphoet Boigny Peace Prize for Contribution to World Peace (2003). Recipient of awards: International Council of Christians and Jews Annual Sir Sternberg Award; Theodor-Heuss-Award (2007); Eugen-Biser-Award (2008).
